Your Pharaoh Hound puppy will be born with its eyes and ears closed, it will have strong scenting abilities to enable it to find its food source with its mum. At around 14-18 days the eyes and ears should be opening and puppy will be able to see and hear, at this stage puppy will start sucking at extra food, many breeders supplement with a puppy porridge as this helps mum out quite a bit as puppies grow so rapidly, they need extra food, and mum puts her all in producing extra which can take a toll on her health and condition. At 4 weeks of age, puppy will be eating small meals at least 3-4 times a day as well as still suckling their mum, at around 5 weeks they become more independent and will start exploring their surroundings, they will be getting at least 5 meals a day and may still suckle their mum at night, by 6 weeks your puppy will be fully weaned and will be having at least 5 meals a day, they will have their first trip to the Veterinarian for their first lot of vaccination shots and will be Micro chipped for lifetime registration.
By now your puppy should be socialised, had lots of human interaction, understands basic commands such as calling the puppy and should know its name [if you have decided on one]. Puppy will have had experience exploring its surroundings, has run around in the dirt, on the grass, concrete, inside on the carpet, been exposed to lots of different noises, TV, Radio, Vacuum cleaner, Lawn Mower, and been introduced to other animals.
Your breeder will register all the puppies with their state controlling body, and at 8 weeks of age will be ready to go to their new homes, you will be given a copy of the Micro Chip papers to transfer to your name, this is very important because if your puppy is ever lost or stolen your details are on a national computer system and your puppy will be able to be relocated back with you.
You will also be given puppies registration papers from the state controlling body, these will enable you to be able to show your puppy at conformation shows as well as compete in agility or obedience, if your puppy is sold on "limited register" as pet only, you can compete in agility or obedience but cannot show in conformation shows.
You will also be given puppies vaccination certificate, it will have all vaccination details on it such as what type of vaccine was used, and when puppies booster shot is due, normally at 12 weeks of age.
If your puppy has to fly to another country or state, puppy must be at least a minimum age of 12weeks.
Some extra vaccinations are required for puppies being exported to certain countries like America, dogs need to be vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days prior to entry, except for puppies younger than 3 months and dogs originated or located for 6 months in areas considered to be free of rabies.
New Zealand government requires that dogs are tested for Babesia Gibsoni, you can find more information here, http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/imports/animals/standards/domaniic.spe.htm
Europe and Africa also have extra requirements for entry so please check with your Government Quarantine Division. Australia is a Rabies free country and most exports from Australia are basically trouble free.

From the age of 12 weeks your puppy can compete in conformation showing in Australia [If you wish], under class 1 for dogs and class 1a for bitches, these are "Baby" puppy classes [3-6mths], there are also other classes, 2 and 2a "Minor" Puppy class [6-9mths], 3 and 3a "Puppy" class [6-12mths], 4 and 4a Junior Class [9-18mths], 5 and 5a Intermediate class [12-36mths], 10 and 10a Australian bred class [from 6mths up] 11 and 11a open class [6mths and up] and 18 and 18a Neutered class [neutered/desexed dogs], the "a" denotes that the entry is a female.
